So it's been a really really long time since I blogged, but now this summer has really kick started, and my riding is improving and taking me to new places, I thought I should probably start up with this thing again! Mainly because I have exciting news...I have been selected to compete in Airprentice 2010! I am so stoked. There is a huge diversity in the riders competing, and I feel like I will be bringing a very different style to what has been a contest dominated by dirt jump and slopestyle riders in the past. Let's hope the judges like what I've got!

Spring is coming...

So, there have been some good days skiing, but for me, it just doesn't offer me much when compared to flying through the trees on my bike, drifting, schralping, hucking(!) and just messing about with my best friends, who I wouldn't even know if it wasn't for the sport which has sculpted my life.
I am so pumped for the summer. And pretty excited to get to ride my bike again recently! There are spots becoming ridable in Vancouver, now that the crazy amount of snow has begun to diminish! It was awesome to ride again. I got a little over zealous, resulting in a high side into the rocks, a slap in the face to remind me I haven't ridden for a while! After settling down a little, the rest of the ride was amazing. The one problem being that now summer just won't come fast enough. I want more!!!!

Snow hiking

Holy crap, it's cold! -15 in the village with a baltic wind whipping around too! I have been skiing a bit, but not loads due to a distinct lack of the white stuff, and as it was too cold to really do anything except stomp it up a big hill, that's exactly what me and Reidles decided to do yesterday! Great to get outside and get some decent excercise in the sun, as most of my training at the moment is in the gym, or in the dark (I'm still riding my bike to work!!) I'm already so excited for next summer, and now have a solid training schedule so I will be fittr and stronger than ever. I woke up this morning to see the snow line barely higher than my house! So now most of the riding here has been written off, I have shipped my bike to vancouver, and had 2 awesome XC rides last weekend! I don't think I could have been wetter If I had got in my riding kit, swam to vancouver, gone surfing, and then showered. Yep. it rained. hard. It didn't stop us having an awesome ride though. I am looking forward to exploring the riding around vancouver throughout the winter, and trying to get some rides in in squamish and pemberton too.
November is a tough time in whistler, now the clocks have changed, and the skiers are coming to town, it's hard to find things to do to pass the dark hours, so this week is dedicated to working out my training schedule for winter, and cleaning my bike to sell it!! if anyone wants a glory or knows someone who does....http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/381631/ take a look!
That's all for now! til next time...

Numb hands and big grins

What a season!
The poignant goodbye to the bike park for another year was heavily overshadowed by an awesome ride this weekend!
I thought it would be a while before I was hearing tales of fresh powder lines, and I definitely thought it would be from people carving turns with metal rails, and not tearing it up with high rollers!
After the snow riding on saturday and sunday, we had an awesome wet weather ride on monday. Super cold, but amazing to be part of such a small group of riders out in those conditions to see out the season, and even better to probably be one of the only people down in deep that day!
Now that the bike park season in officially over, and I will not be racing bikes any more this year, I have begun to think a lot about the future, particularly next summer!

Off the back of some good results this season, I really want to push myself with my racing next year. I have proved I can go fast, and this winter will be dedicated to getting stronger, fitter and faster to race much more next year. I have had the best summer of my life this year, and am already excited and hungry to start the season next year!

With my best results being in the enduro downhill races this year, I am setting out to win the red bull burner in angelfire next year. After all, what better training is there for the burner than riding Whistler bike park all day every day off I have?!!

I'm stoked to do some more filming and photos next year too. I was really happy with the photos and footage we got this summer, but a little disappointed that I only really got the ball rolling with the media stuff towards the end of the season!

This month is going to be about a lot of XC, trying to squeeze in as much riding as I can before the snow flies, and trying to secure some support for next year, so I can spend my money getting to races, instead of throwing it into the eternal financial black hole that is maintaining my bikes!

Keep checking back, I will have more pictures and stories up soon!

keep it pinned

First Post

testing testing one two three.
